Matt 21:1-11

Palm Sunday! A lot of Jews in Jerusalem were happy to see Jesus come, riding on a donkey and ready to proclaim himself King of Israel! Or so they thought. But the deliverance they expected was not the deliverance they received. But they were delivered, but from a greater and more horrible tyrant than Rome. They were delivered from Sin, and yet they could not see it. What things do you not see? Those might be an important reason for not "meeting your expectations".

In our first "socially distant but still relevant" message while we have postponed our regular Sunday meetings, we look at Jesus instructions for us in handling "end times" like events. Romans 14

We are instructed not to judge or despise another servant. It is to the Lord himself, our master, that each servant will answer. So whether one has freedom to "eat meat" or their conscience forbids it, they will answer for their behavior to Jesus, not to each other. This helps to guide our love and patience with one another. 

Genesis 35:21-26

Our identity is a powerful part of our being. It is important to define our identity based on God's Word, not on feelings or society or anything else. Listen to this powerful message of the identity we have in Christ. Find out who you REALLY are, from God's point of view.

Those that receive the Word gladly but have no "root within themselves" are a sad lot. Listen to this message about avoiding the deep pit of shallowness.

Isa 40:31

Sometimes waiting on God's timing seems to be the hardest thing we have to do in the Christian walk. Yet it is also the most rewarding. Those that wait on the Lord shall "gain new strength" and find his power is sufficient.

Gen. 35:15-20

Israel's sweetheart, the love of his life, dies in childbirth. This is a sincere and painful tragedy in Israel's life, and his response teaches us a valuable lesson of perspective in the midst of sorrows and hardships in life. How we handle challenges and trials is greatly a matter of our perspective. Do we have God's perspective on this difficulty, or are we looking through human, temporal eyes? Listen for a good reminder from Scripture of how to handle the sorrows and pressures of life.

Genesis 35:1-15

Jacob had a powerful experience at Bethel...many years before. Since then he had drifted, compromised, and allowed false gods into his household. He realized it was time to clean house, and return to that place of previous spiritual formation and significance. He had a revival experience in this passage.

All of us have times when we need to return to "Bethel", to the place of humble worship, sincere growth, and powerful formation as we pursue Christ. Let Israel's example inspire you to "renew the covenant" in your walk with Christ.

Genesis 34

Here we have a very horrible sin, followed by more horrible sins, accounted for us in this one chapter. Some really despicable things are done here, and yet we find here a wonderful reminder of the power of grace to bring redemption to even the most sinful people.

John 15:1-17

This first message of the new year focuses on the foundation of fruitfulness in the kingdom of God. What is the source from which we must gain our strength? None other than the True Vine himself, the Lord Jesus Christ. Abiding in the Vine is the pivotal part of our ability to see fruitfulness in our walk with Christ. But how do we abide? Pastor Jarod explains Jesus' teaching on this issue from John 15, and shows us what the Bible says about how to abide in Christ all the time.

In this passage of Scripture we will see that to hide our T.A.T.O.R.s is wrong. We will be challenged to give whatever we have, even if we THINK it is small, into the Lord's service for his glory. Genesis 29:1-14

Give Thanks! In all our life we should have an attitude of gratefulness. But what about the pain and suffering I endure? What about the sorrows of life? How can we be thankful in those circumstances? What is the first thing mentioned in this passage that we should be grateful for? Justification! The right to stand in the consuming fire of God's presence without a fear of death or condemnation. How can we increase in the knowledge of God? What does that even mean? Col. 1:9-14

Is it possible to be entirely pleasing to the Lord in every area of life? Is my life worthy of the Lord, of bearing his Name? These are important questions to ask. Paul earnestly prayed that the Colossians would grow into a manner of life that was exactly that, worthy of the Lord and pleasing to Him in every area. Does that seem impossible? It isn't, but certainly must be done by dependence upon the grace of God. Listen as we discover more of the vision God has cast for our church body and the life we are to live as Believers.

What was Paul's earnest prayer for the Colossian church? He said he did not cease to pray for certain things for them. What might God be speaking to us today? Luke 24:13-35

Two disciples walk upon the road, troubled over the events of the day. That particular day some of their friends had told them they had seen Jesus alive. ALIVE! This they found hard to believe because they had seen Jesus die a horrible death just two days ago. This was the third day, and now reports of his resurrection were beginning to surface. They didn't know what to think. 
Then a man walks up to them...and their life is never the same! Listen as the lessons they learned so long ago still inform our experience today. How does Jesus show up in our lives now? What if we can't understand what he is doing? We all have a lot to learn on the road to Emmaus.

Ephesians 1:17-23

Paul is praying that God will reveal Jesus to the Ephesian believers. That he would disclose to them the true nature of Christ and the effects of his Resurrection. That they, having gained this "true knowledge" of Jesus and what he had done, would never be the same.

What are the three things he was earnestly praying they would understand? They are "His Invitation to Hope, His Inheritance to Bestow, and His Immeasurable Power to Acquire." These things are all dependent upon the actual bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Let's study these things more and, perhaps, the Lord will reveal this understanding to us also.

Hebrews 9

For so many years the people of God sacrificed a lamb upon the altar as an atonement for their sins. Once a year the high priest would go into the Most Holy Place and sprinkle the blood of the lamb upon the mercy seat and so attain forgiveness for the sins of the people. It was a very special day, and blood was required.

Jesus did the exact same thing, but in the True Temple, the one in Heaven, and sprinkled his own blood as a final once for all payment for our sins. In this message we recognize what took place in the spiritual realm on the Cross. What Jesus accomplished for us as the perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Listen, and be blessed and grateful.

Genesis 28:10-28

Jacob was running for his life. He was largely to blame for the state he found himself in. And then he has a dream...  Listen as we discover lessons from this story about the hope that God brings to us, faith in his Word, His compassion on those who have failed, and the continued story of the "Seed of Abraham" as we trace the story of Christ through Genesis. Listen as Jacob goes from deceiver to "delivered."

Luke 4:17-21, 2 Cor. 2:1-2

Why did Jesus come? He tells us in Luke that he came to bring liberty, healing, and deliverance. But how were these things achieved? By what means were they accomplished? It is through the death and resurrection of the Christ that they were achieved. This is why Paul said he would focus upon the Cross in his preaching to the Corinthians. Genesis 27:41 - 28:9

Often we experience unintended consequences to our actions. Sin usually brings with it a greater price tag than we were expecting. While those consequences are often permanent, it is never too late to start doing the right thing. We can follow the Lord and see his plan at work even through our failures. But we must do it His way, not our own way. All of these lessons are found in this short passage of Scripture as we focus on the experience of Rebekah, Isaac, and Esau.

Judges 7:1-15

The story of Gideon is one of the most famous stories in the Bible, and Gideon himself is remembered in the "Faith Hall of Fame" in Hebrews 11 as a great hero. But it is clear from Scripture that Gideon still battled fear in spite of his incredible faith. He was human just like you and me, and we learn a lot about God from the story of Gideon. Proverbs 29:25

What is the Fear of Man? At it's essence it is being more afraid of what others will do or think than what God does or thinks. How can we conquer this incredibly powerful fear? How can we walk in the Spirit? What does that mean? What about fleshly living? How can we die to the flesh and walk according to the Spirit? How do we understand what love is? How does the Lord define true love? In this passage we find not only the accurate assesment of true Christ-like love to which we should compare our own behavior, but we also find a picture of the very nature of Christ. His character is portrayed to us and our behavior is prescribed. Come and meditate upon the "Love Chapter" with us!

Col. 1:9-14

What was so important to Paul that he wouldn't stop praying about it? He says in this passage that there were certain things he would not stop praying God would grant the Colossian Christians. What are those things? Do you think they might be very important for Christians to seek after today? Listen and discover keys to effective and powerful Christian living.

What are we to be as Believers? What are we do be as a body of Believers? Jesus gives us two very powerful and important analogies in the Sermon on the Mount that teach us the answer to these important questions. Isaac faced adversity. He was given instruction from God to settle in the land of Canaan and faced incredible adversity opposing him. Yet he persevered. He continued on in the direction God gave to him. And in the end he found he was much better off as a result. We all face adversity of one kind or another. Isaiah 53

Hundreds of years before Christ, the prophet Isaiah was given a vision of what the Messiah would be like. He predicted that the Savior would have no outward beauty that would make us desire him. He foretold that we would believe this Deliverer to be cursed of God, afflicted and deserving of suffering. What are our expectations about what the blessings of God look like? If God is blessing me, what do I expect will happen? Is it possible that our American ideas about what we "deserve" have skewed our ideas about how blessings will appear? Look at the life of Isaac and Rebekah and find a powerful lesson about what God's blessings are like in our lives. Message 66 in the Foundations Series. 

Mark 10:13-16

How does a child look at their parents? Is a child, especially an infant, able to defend themselves or care for themselves? They are pretty much helpless right? They are almost entirely dependent on those that care for them. Did you know that Jesus teaches us that unless we get to the place where we are entirely dependent on Him, we cannot even enter into the Kingdom of God? Listen, and hear the proof!

Then end of an era. The death of a patriarch. The death of the father of Faith, Abraham himself. But was that the end...or just the beginning? Listen as we learn about the first time that life after death is referred to in Scripture.

Sampson's life was a mixed bag. Sometimes great successes, sometimes incredible failure. But after reaching rock bottom he made a pretty mighty end, even being honored in the "Faith hall of fame" in Hebrews 11. Would you think that it would be best to build a fortress where your family and loved ones can be safe from the influences of wickedness and debauchery which seem to be all over our culture today? Mark 14:3-9

Mary, the sister of Lazarus, took something of incredible value and used it to anoint Jesus before his burial. Jesus defined this as a "good work", when others defined it as a "waste". How do we define our service to Christ? Is it wasteful to be "poured out" for the Lord?
